Eastern India – Some Glimpses! - 11 Nights/12 Days

Destinations Covered:    Kolkata – Dibrugarh - Wakro – Roing - Dibrugarh – Kaziranga - Guwahati - Kolkata
DAY 01 : Arrive Kolkata

On arrival you will be met by the Planet Holidays representative and transfer to your hotel. Kolkata is the gateway to Eastern India.  Being capital of the British Raj till it was shifted to New Delhi in 1911, you will find some of the magnificent monuments of that era. It is also known as the intellectual capital of India.

DAY 02 : Kolkata – Dibrugarh By Air
You will be transferred to Kolkata airport in time to board your flight for Dibrugarh. On arrival you will be transferred to Heritage Chang Bungalow for your overnight stay. Besides known for its Oil refineries, Dibrugarh is the gateway to Eastern Arunachal Pradesh. (B,L,D)
DAY 03 : Dibrugarh – Wakro 190 km

Post breakfast visit one of the tea estates in the area before you leave by surface for Wakro. Enroute visit Empong Village, inhabited by the Khampli tribe. Also visit Buddhist Gompa close to Namsai, which is spossoed to be the largest of its kind in North-eastern India.  Later continue your drive to Wakro. It is the home of Mishami tribe. You will be staying in the traditional Mishmi Huts. (B,L,D)

DAY 04 : In Wakro

Full day explore the nearby colourful villages. Mishmi Tribe is having three main groups and they are called Idus, Tarons and Kamans. You will have the opportunity to visit their villages and can interact with them. They are nice and welcoming people. (B,L,D)

DAY 05 : Wakro – Roing 160 km
Post breakfast continue your drive to Roing, enroute visiting Parsuramkund. On arrival installation at Mishm Hill Camp. The place is rurrounded by rivers, snow-capped peaks and valleys and is the home to the Idu Mishmi tribe and Adi Padam tribe. (B,L,D)
DAY 06 : Roing
Full day to explore the tribal villages and nature walks. (B,L,D)
DAY 07 : Roing – Dibrugarh 170 km
After breakfast leave by car for Dibrugarh. On arrival check in into the Heritage Chang Bungalow for overnight. Afternoon visit the Bazaars and the weaving centre. (B,L,D)
DAY 08 : Dibrugarh – Kaziranga National Park 220 km
Post breakfast, leave by car for Kaziranga, enroute visit Sivasagar. Later continue your drive to Kaziranga. On arrival check in into DIphlu River Lodge. Kaziranga National park, located on the banks of mighty Brahmaputra River and covers an area of about 430 sq. Km. Mainly swamp and full of elephant grass it is perfect habitat for Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. After lunch take a Jeep Safari into the Park. (B,L,D)
DAY 09 : In Kaziranga
This day also you will be exploring the Jungle for game viewing by Jeeps and Elephants in the morning and evening. Besides the One Horned Rhioceros, the other game is Wild Buffalo, Sambar, Swamp Deer, Python, Elephant and Tiger. (B,L,D)
DAY 10 : Kaziranga-Guwahati – 210 km. Guwahati-Kolkata by air

After breakfast leave Kaziranga for Guwahati airport in time to connect flight for Kolkata. On arrival you will be met by our representative and will be transferred to your hotel. (B)

DAY 11 : In Kolkata

After breakfast, full day to explore this fascinating city also know as city of joy.  You will be visiting Howrah Bridge, The Maidan and St. John’s Church, The Victoria Memorial, The Indian Museum and Kali Temple at Kalighat, which is also situated close to Mother Teress’s Home for the Destitute. DAY 12 : Kolkata- Back home

Today you will be transferred to International airport to board your flight for home
