Where Tigers Rule - 08 Nights/09 Days

Destinations Covered: Nagpur – Pench - Kanha National Park – Bandhavgarh National Park - Khajuraho – Delhi
DAY 01 : Arrive Nagpur – Drive to Pench

You will arrive at Nagpur airport, on arrival you will be met by Planet Holidays representative who will escort you to Pench National Park by private car. On arrival at Pench you will check in into your lodge for next two nights. After lunch, leave for Jungle excursion by open jeeps. The 756 sq km of prime tiger habitat provides excellent opportunity to spot tiger. It also has good population of Leopards, which can be found in the peripheral areas of the park, so that they can avoid encounters with the tiger.


The other animals found are Wild Dog, Indian Wolf, Jackal, Sloth Bear, Jungle Cat, and rhesus Macaque. Pench is also home to the herbivores animals such as Sambar, Chital, Chinkara, Barking Dear, Indan Bison, wild boar etc. The river and its reservoir are the life line for the park inmates in the dry summer months. Around the reservoir you can find good bird life and can see Painted Stork, Black headed Ibis, Oriental Darter etc. Dinner and overnight will be at your hotel/lodge. (L,D)

DAY 02 : In Pench
You have full day in hand to explore the wild game in the Pench National Park. You will spend the night in the lodge at Pench. (B,L,D)
DAY 03 : Pench – Kanha 140 km. 4 hrs.

Post breakfast drive to Kanha National Park, situated north of Nagpur in the Maikal Range of Satpura Hills. On way the birder in you will get to see many birds such as Long-tailed Shrike, Red and Yellow Lapwings, Laughing and Spotted Doves, Green Bee-eater, Black Kite, Egyptian Vulture and Common and Jungle Mynas.


On arrival you will check in into your hotel for overnight. Kanha is the largest protected area in central India and it covers almost 1950 sq. Km area. Kanha is divided into 5 ranges and is one of best maintained park in India. We will keep our base in Mukki range as it is much quieter than the other once. (B,L,D)

DAY 04 & 05 : In Kanha

These two days you will be exploring the area by jeeps with our local naturalist. The prominent feature of Kanha’s landscape is the wide open meadows and fields. These meadows provide excellent opportunity to view the herbivores and other game. During the summer months, which are comparitevly drier, these areas are very conducive to wildlife sightings.


Today, Kanha is one of the best parks to see tigers. Besides the big cats, the other game is Barasingha, Chital, Sambar, Barking Deer, Nilgai, Chousingha, Blackbuck, Wild Boar, Dhole and if you are lucky, you can even spot Leopard and Sloth Bear. There are more then 300 species of resident and migratory birds in the park. Besides the birds there are good number of butterflies, reptiles and wild flowers. You will be doing two safaris every day by open jeeps. There is also a possibility to view tiger from the elephant’s back, by taking part in Tiger Show “Sher Darshan”, during which visitors are taken to less or inaccessible areas of the forest for a close view of the resting tiger, which has been tracked by the forest guards or the mahouts.


However this is subject to availability and can not be guaranteed. Normally we start our day early in the morning with packed breakfast, in order to stay in the park till midday. In the afternoon, after lunch you relax a bit, before we go for late afternoon Tiger Safari by Jeeps again. You can also walk around your camp for birdwatching. Evening swape the stories with fellow residents before dinner and overnight in comfortable luxury tents in the camp, not too far from the Mukki gate.

DAY 06 : Kanha National Park – Bandhavgarh National Park 210 km. 6 hrs.
After breakfast continue your drive to Bandhavgarh National Park. On arrival you will stay in your lodge for next two nights. The park offers excellent opportunities to see tiger and other wild game. Some major waterholes in the park like Chakradhara, Gopalpur and Barwandala are sights one can often see the tiger. The other game you can see is leopard, blue bull, chinkar, chausingha, chital, sambhar, barking deer, and couple of species of bats and squirrels, Indian Pangolin and Porcupine, wild dog, rare India Wolf, jackal and wild boar are there in the park. DAY 07 : In Bandhavgarh National Park
Explore the park for full day today, Besides the above game, there are almost baout 255 species of birds and around 70 species of butterflies. Hence provides excellent time for keen bird watchers also. You will do your first safari in the early morning before sun rise and back by later morning to have your breakfast in the camp. The second visit will be in the later afternoon and you are back by sunset. There is a possibility to see tiger by elephants also during the tiger show. It is only if the tiger sighting is there and there is no guarantee of the elephant game viewing. (B,L,D)
DAY 08 : Bandhavgarh National Park – Khajuraho 234 km 6 hrs.
Morning after breakfast continue your drive to Khajuraho. On arrival you will stay at your hotel. Afternoon visit Eastern & Western Group of Temples. Overnight at the hotel. (B)
DAY 09 : Khajuraho – Delhi – flight for home
Post breakfast, you will be transferred to Khajuraho airport in time to connect flight for Delhi. On arrival you will be met by Planet Holidays representative, who will take you to international airport in time to connect flight for back home.
